Koreans rate the Secret Garden above Gyeongbokgung. Timed tickets — book ahead.

The one to visit at night — the stone wall path beside it is a Seoul classic.

People live here. Signs ask for quiet after 17:00 — they mean it.

Walk up from Namsan Park instead of the cable car queue — 30 minutes, much better.

Neighbourhoods, not hotels. Hotels change; a good base doesn't.

Most hotels per square metre and walkable to the palaces. Noisy, priced for visitors.
- Stay: Hongdae홍대 숙박Mapo
Guesthouses and young crowds; the airport bus stops here. Loud until late.

Business hotels and quiet nights, but far from the historic sights.
- Stay: Seoul Station area서울역 인근 숙박Jung-gu
Best base for KTX day trips or a late arrival from Incheon.

Everything here is a place we can vouch for, with coordinates we checked. We don't scrape rankings or pad the list to look complete, which is why some regions are short — they grow as we can verify more. The "where locals go" tag means Koreans go for their own reasons, not because a guidebook sent them.
Distances and routes are handed to Naver Map rather than estimated here. Korea has no public transit routing API, and an invented travel time is worse than none.
